The upper rim is separated from the lens. 

The upper rim only plays an aesthetic role, not for structural reasons.

Hello, I'm interested in purchasing bliss SV and I was wondering if I can take the glasses to my local optometry in Los Angeles and change it to my prescribed lens.

I see that it is half framed and it is screwed down attaching the half frame and the lens together.
